![]() Moston Brook High School CAMPAIGNERS have lost their fight to save their school after Education Secretary David Blunkett agreed to close it down to reduce surplus places. Mr Blunkett agreed Moston Brook High School in Monsall should close at the end of August this year as part of a programme launched by Manchester City Council to tackle falling rolls. Spurley Hey and Ellen Wilkinson High Schools in central Manchester will merge on the Spurley Hey site where a new school will be built. Pupils at Moston Brook will transfer to existing north Manchester schools. The Government will invest ?6m in building works. Part of the money will be used to carry out alterations and extend Abraham Moss High School, North Manchester Girls' High School and North Manchester Boys' High School. Councillor Bernard Stone, the city council's executive member for education, said: "All the money saved by these closures will be used to help ensure continuing improvements in levels of attainment throughout the city instead of being tied up in half-empty classrooms. Arrangements are being made for parents of pupils at Moston Brook High School to meet with staff to discuss where they would like to attend school in future. |
