A NEW housing scheme to make home ownership more affordable for people struggling to find a foothold on the property ladder has been launched in Blackley. Beech Housing Association have developed a new 21-property scheme of two and three bedroom semis and mews homes for sale at Carmel Court just off Rochdale Road, near Boggart Hole Clough. All properties have gas central heating, fitted kitchen units, patio doors leading to private gardens and on-site parking. They will be sold through shared ownership where householders can part-buy and part-rent the property to keep their mortgage payments lower for those starting out in their first home. House prices start at ?21,750 for a 50% share purchase of a two-bedroom mews property plus ?79 a month rent. The scheme is designed to allow people to increase the percentage they own as they become more able to afford higher mortgage payments. The scheme has also been awarded a Secure by Design certificate for its security-conscious layout and design. There was an open day on Sunday with the show home at 9 Parkmount Road when visitors could look at other properties still available for sale on the scheme. |
