A PROGRAMME of improvements is planned across Crumpsall in response to complaints over paving, lighting, empty houses and dog fouling.

A bid has been made for government funding to modernise street lighting in the area and pavement resurfacing is scheduled for the roads around Herristone Park.

Road resurfacing is to be carried out on Lansdowne Road and action is being stepped up against dog fouling in the Edilom Road area.

Projects are also being set up to trace property owners who allow their empty houses to deteriorate to force them to carry out repairs and some vacant properties may be taken over by housing associations.

A new accreditation scheme is also being drawn up to recognise private landlords for good management and maintenance of rented property.

Planned environmental improvements include weekly street cleaning, replanting hanging baskets on Lansdowne Road and Cheetham Hill Road, and cutting back overhanging trees and hedges.

There are also measures being taken to stop motorcyclists using Blackley Forest as a dirt track.

A partnership has been set up between the police and local residents to tackle crime, youth problems and issues involving people with mental health problems living in the community.

Parking problems in Station Road, Crumpsall Lane, Middleton Road and Lansdowne Road are also being addressed and residents in the Enver road and Parkhill Road areas are being consulted over securing alleyways.
