Harpurhey councillor Joanne Green was delighted by the progress made at the Clough and congratulated the children for their work on the bulb planting programme paid for by the Mersey Basin Trust. "The schools forum brings schools and the community together to make an event like this a real success for the children and for the Clough, teaching them to support and care for their local environment." Lightbowne councillor Bill Risby, who took part in the original planting scheme, was proud of the children and hoped the programme would give them a sense of ownership of the Clough. He said: "It's wonderful that the children who took part in the planting will be able to come back year after year and see the flowers blossom. "They can take satisfaction in the knowledge that they have played a part in improving the Clough for generations to come and hopefully will continue to play their part." |
