FUTURE development plans for Herristone Park are being discussed at a meeting on Tuesday 10 July.

The Friends of Herristone Park are holding a meeting at 7.15pm at Crumpsall Labour Club on Wilton Road when all park users and residents living in the neighbourhood will be welcome to attend.

Items on the agenda will include a report on progress of the Trees of the World educational feature due to be launched next autumn and a discussion about sport development to make best use of the park's multi-sport pitch and encourage more girls to use the facilities.

Plans for the 2007 Christmas Grotto will also begin and proposals to celebrate the park's anniversary in 2008 will be announced.

Gail Lamb, the Friends treasurer, said: “There is a lot happening at the park in the next 12 months and we want as many people as possible to contribute their opinions, ideas and their skills.

“Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings. You don't have to do anything, we won't rope people into doing jobs if they don't want to. We just want people to come along, listen to what's being planned and let us know what you think

“Of course we'd like people to get involved, but it's just as important that people come along and just tell us what they think.”
