The Friends of Blackley Forest are holding an open day on Sunday 15 July.

People are invited to visit the nature reserve, situated between Blackley New Road, Middleton Road and Victoria Avenue, from noon to 4pm.

Wheelchair access is from Victoria Avenue leading to a circular route along the banks of the River Irk forming part of the Irk Valley.
The Bowker Vale tram stop on the route to Bury is a five minute walk from the site.

During the open day volunteers will lead walks and demonstrate the improvements that have been carried out at the community woodland.

Ongoing projects include the creation of a bird watching and feeding station, a butterfly meadow and a pond dipping pond. For more information contact Dot Keller on 0161 795 0900.
