The Friends of Herristone Park are holding a Picnic in the Park on Sunday 3 June.

Activities start at 2pm and will include a performance by Crumpsall Concert Band, a children's entertainer, sports activities, tombola, face painting, kite making and refreshment stalls.

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and sit and enjoy the free activities. Refreshments will be available at pocket-money prices.

During half-term week in the run up to the Picnic, sport development workers will be holding sessions at Herristone Park ball court. They hope to encourage children to take part in team games such as rounders, netball and football. The sessions will culminate in a tournament at the Picnic.

The event is being run with the support of Manchester City Council's Leisure Services department.Organisers of the event would welcome any volunteers willing to help staff stalls or set up and clear up on the day.

Any volunteers should arrive at the park between noon and 1pm and speak to one of the Leisure Services staff on site or should contact north area park warden Martin Fitzpatrick in advance on 0161 702 1185.
