ROLLER hockey players in north Manchester are recovering from a weekend tournament in the North East where they faced top teams from across the country. Leading players from eight north Manchester league teams formed the squad which was due to do battle in the British In-line Puck Hockey Association Superleague Competition in Bridlington. The squad was up against Greater Manchester, Scotland and the North East in the crucial third round of the tournament. ![]() John Beaumont, Craig Theaker and Martin Lomas from the Crumpsall Coyotes North Manchester hosted the first of four rounds in the competition back in October last year when they lost to Greater Manchester and Scotland but triumphed over the North East. The local squad missed the Scottish leg in December when a date change left them unable to take part and have since been negotiating a solution with the competition organisers to make up the lost points. They were hoping to improve their performance this time round and look forward to the final to be hosted by the Greater Manchester league in March. |
