POLICE are appealing for help in hunting down the killer of a Cheetham Hill dad who was gunned down at point blank range at a Christmas party. Hundreds of people are believed to have been attending the 'Last Xmas' celebration at the Cheetham Black Resource Centre when Simon Brown was shot in the head and leg. He was leaving the party in the early hours of Boxing Day morning when he was blasted by a lone gunman and died instantly leaving a girlfriend and two-year-old son. Detectives investigating the murder say the 27-year-old electrician had no connection with drugs or organised crime and have so far failed to establish a clear motive. Despite around 500 people attending the party at the centre on Cheetham Hill, investigators say no witnesses have come forward to identify the killer. An incident room has been set up at Greymare Lane Police Station on 0161 856 3684. Anyone with information can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
