Frozen pitches, compounded by overnight rain, lead to the entire AIR MILES Manchester League programme being wiped out. Atherton Town had hoped to add three more points to their Championship tally as the chasing pack all faced tricky fixtures, and in the First Division, the key clash of Royton Town and Hindsford attracted a lot of pre-match attention, but it was not to be. Dave Grimbaldeston's first match as Failsworth Town boss also fell victim to the freeze, and he now has a home clash with Leigh Athletic to look forward to. New Mills and Springheads' county cup clashes now move to next Saturday, and both will have high hopes of success. Hindsford and East Manchester are both in midweek cup action, in the Semi-Finals of the Goldline Trophy and Manchester Challenge Trophy respectively, and both teams play with our best wishes for success. The 5th February has been set as the date for Prestwich Heys' Goldline Trophy Semi-Final. |
