East Manchester whizzed to the top of the Premier Division table with a stunning 5-0 win at Failsworth Town, writes Scott White. Two goals apiece from Martyn Stewart and Darren Green set up a great win, Brian Thomasson adding the fifth.

Only a second half strike from Danny Christie gave Atherton Town the points over his former club Pennington in a tight match at Jubilee Park, Atherton moving up to second.

It was a similar story at New Mills where Stockport Georgians returned up the A6 with all three points when Dave Brocklehurst scored after the interval.

Prestwich Heys' brief tenure at the top was ended by Elton Fold, who have won ten of their last eleven games, when John Price and Paul Owen secured a 2-0 win.

A close game at Leigh Athletic saw Irlam MS garner a point from a 2-2 draw, Danny Wilson and Clark Dobson netted for the Latics with Danny Butters hitting a brace for Mitchells.

Wythenshawe Amateurs were in winning ways as they eased past Monton 4-1 at Longley Lane, Steve Shaughnessy and Paul Lamb notching a brace of goals each, Monton's consolation coming from Duncan Hall.

Another comprehensive victory saw Dukinfield Town win 5-1 at Willows, Phil Ainscough and Lee Moulton scoring twice with Carl Hipkin taking Town to nap, Lee McDonald scoring Willows' strike.

In the Gilgryst Cup, Rochdale Sacred Heart made no mistake as they cruised into the Second Round with a 6-2 romp over Springhead. Andy Taylor helped himself to a hat-trick, Lee Storey and Anthony Pauls adding to an own goal for Hearts, Neil Emburey and Dave Clegg going some way to gaining consolation for 'Head.

Despite being held at home to a goal-less draw by Avro, Wilmslow Albion remain at the summit of the First Division.

Royton Town were the only leading club to take advantage of this slip as they swept aside Unsworth 9-2, Callum Frizzell hitting four goals with Phil Parker, Simon Briley, Paul Smith, Paul Ashton and Ian Hulme finding the back of the net.

Hollinwood slip to third as they drew 2-2 with Manchester Royal, Neil Rennie and Graham Forde hit 'Wood's goals with Tony Morrell and the irrepressible Eke Eme securing an impressive point for the Royal.

Moving up to fourth are Whalley Range, who came from behind to defeat Breightmet United, Damien Harper putting the visitors ahead before goals from Gabriel Caldwell and Mike Morse turned the game on its head.

Could Belden be repeating the great run of last season? A 2-1 win over Whitworth Valley sees them climb two places, James Anderson scoring both goals, Mike Barker hitting Valley's response.

Warth Fold threw everything at Tintwistle Villa, but they could not stop their hosts recording a 3-2 triumph, that man Dave Dickens hitting two goals with Gary Doodson also on target, but Fold were always in it thanks to Damien Morrison and Lee Morris.

With Villa winning, Milton needed beat Old Alts to avoid dropping to the bottom, but the visitors proved just too strong for them as Adam Owen and Rob Kerr added to a Tony Allen brace for Alts with Vinny Jennings and Mike Taylor netting for Milton.
