Moston Brook stream in the Clough
north Manchester park has become one of four in the city to win a prestigious national award.

Boggart Hole Clough has received the Green Flag Award for the first time for its high standards in environmental protection, community use, landscape design and maintenance, safety, cleanliness and accessibility.

Established in 1996 and backed by the Government, the Green Flag Awards scheme is run by the Civic Trust on behalf of a group of respected environmental organisations.

It is supported by a grant from the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions and sponsored by Shanks First, the Countryside Agency and English Nature.

Boggart Hole Clough, a sprawling country park running from Moston, through Charlestown and into Blackley, joined Debdale Park in achieving the recognition for the first time.

Wythenshawe Park received its third award and Chorlton Water Park won for the second time running.
