In the Lancashire Shield, Atherton Town progressed at Slyne with Hest thanks to a Neil Lewis goal in a 1-0 win, and Ashton Athletic won the all AIR MILES Manchester League clash with Whitworth Valley 2-0, Steve Mansfield and David Fitzroy both scoring.

Elton Fold were left biting their nails as they went through 4-3 on penalties against Stoneclough, but there was no such luck for Rochdale Sacred Heart who lost at Norcross and Warbreck from the spot.

Hindsford pressed West Lancashire League Champions Kirkham and Wesham hard but lost out 1-0 despite a fine performance.
