HOSPITAL chaplain Fr David Glover is being treated for serious injuries after being involved in a car accident.

Fr Glover, the Roman Catholic chaplain at North Manchester General Hospital, was involved in a collision with a van on Wednesday when he suffered facial injuries, a broken collar bone and leg injuries.

The priest, who is known to thousands of people who have been patients at the Crumpsall hospital as well as worshippers at churches in the surrounding community, is being treated at Salford's Hope Hospital.

Churchgoers were told that Fr Glover's injuries were 'repairable' but it was not known how long he would be in hospital or how soon he would be able to resume his duties.

Fr Glover celebrated Mass at St Anne's Church on Crescent Road last Sunday and was to have conducted daily and Sunday Mass for the next fortnight while Parish Priest Fr Mackie is away on holiday.

His accident came as a shock to parishioners who read of the accident in their parish newsletter. Daily Mass will be replaced by Eucharistic services until Fr Mackie returns on August 25.
