Round-the-clock security is now operating in north Manchester parks to tackle anti-social behaviour and enforce by-laws covering litter and dog fouling. The dedicated rapid-response teams have been put in place as part of a city-wide initiative to encourage more people to use public parks. Mobile patrols in white, liveried vans can now be seen visiting parks, playing fields and public open spaces in the area. They are available to respond to calls from park users reporting vandalism, crime or other concerns. Councillor Glynn Evans, Manchester City Council's Culture & Leisure chief said : "Our parks and public open spaces are a fantastic resource for everyone who lives in Manchester. "This new service is proof of our commitment to make them safe and secure for everyone who uses them and deal appropriately with individuals who spoil the enjoyment of the vast majority of people." |
