PARK users in Crumpsall have been urged to insist on being issued with a police 'log' number when reporting crimes in the recreation areas. A meeting of the Friends of Herristone Park advised users to call 872 5050 to report non-emergency incidents to the police and were told of Manchester's new Mobile Incident Response wardens. The wardens operate from Crumpsall Park from 10am to 10pm and are available on 795 0525 to respond to any incidents in parks in the area. A committee has been formed to run the Friends of Herristone Park including secretary Chris Humphreys (email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ), acting chairman Tom Lister, treasurer Gail Lamb. The meeting on May 17 discussed problems of dog fouling in the park but it was accepted that dog walkers were an asset to the park as they are regular users. Other users were concerned about some dog owners failing to clean up after their poets so it was agreed to hold a `doggie bag' event when specially designed poop scoops will be issued to dog owners. The initiative will take place on Saturday, June 23 when it is hoped to encourage a more responsible attitude towards dog ownership. Anyone interested in helping to distribute 'doggie bags' is asked to meet at Crumpsall Labour Club at 9.30pm and the event is expected to last until 11.30pm. Further details are available from Tom Lister on 740 3084. |
