Bishop Brain
rence Brain was yesterday (Sunday) preaching in Crumpsall to mark celebrations of prayer for Christian unity that started on Thursday, January 18.

The bishop was speaking at a service at St Anne's RC Church, Crescent Road, to mark the final day of the celebrations when people from all denominations took part.

His visit was the finale in a programme of events throughout the last week organised by Churches Together in Manchester 8, a collection of churches embracing a wide range of Christian belief.

Churches taking part in the unity event included Trinity United Church on Greenhill Road, Crumpsall Methodist Church on Lansdowne Road, the New Testament Church of God on Heywood Street, St Matthew's with St Mary's on Cleveland road as well as St Anne's RC.

Earlier in the day Crumpsall Methodist Church welcomed their own 'Bishop' Rev D Willie, chairman of the district, who lead morning worship.
