BROWNIES at Crumpsall Methodist Church have said a fond farewell to Barn Owl Maureen Lilley who has moved out of the area to live in Rochdale.
Maureen has worked with the pack based in the Lansdowne Road Church hall for years taking the youngsters on camping trips and organising activities in the evenings, weekends and school holidays. The girls also say goodbye to Sparrow Sue Nolan who is taking over running the Rainbows group that caters for younger children in the area. Reinforcements have arrived in the shape of Margaret Humphreys and Bonnie Hartley who have joined the team including Sheila Charlton and Elizabeth Lilley to run the Brownies with Suzan Allen. The Brownies and Rainbows groups always welcome new members to take part in regular club meetings and activities in and around the Crumpsall community. Youngsters in the Brownies have just earned their Science Investigator badge after visiting the Science and Industry Museum where they enjoyed the hands-on displays and took part in experiments. At Christmas the children brought some festive cheer to pensioners in the area with carol concerts in local sheltered housing schemes. |
