![]() Members of Crumpsall Methodist Church look back on early days Cheetham Hill Methodist Church, originally based near the Halfway House pub, joined with Crumpsall Park Methodist Church to create the church that now stands on Lansdowne Road. Together they planned and built their new place of worship that has in the last 25 years become a hub of community activity. To celebrate the milestone anniversary, churchgoers past and present joined together on Sunday, January 21 for a thanksgiving service followed by a lunch in the church hall. At least 100 people joined in the celebration and took a stroll down Memory Lane when they watched a slide show and video screening of events that have shaped the church's history. Members also put together a photographic display of the church's activities including pictures of group outings, parties, youth groups, the church's musical ensembles and family weddings and baptisms. As well as being a place of prayer, the Methodist Church is used day and night by the community for daily pensioners' lunches, advice surgeries for local councillors, guides, scouts, dancing schools and indoor bowling. The congregation is hoping to develop its own website as part of northmanchester.net to keep people up-to-date with activities throughout their jubilee year. |
