MOSTON councillor Derek Shaw has been appointed to serve as a non-executive director for another four years on the board of the renowned Christie Hospital. Cllr Shaw was first appointed to the trust three years ago having served on Manchester City Council since 1980 and held office as Lord Mayor of Manchester. He joins the council's former chief executive Arthur Sandford who has been re-appointed chairman of the hospital trust. Both men were delighted to continue serving the trust as Christie Hospital enters its centenary year. Mr Sandford said: "Next year the hospital celebrates its centenary and we shall see the culmination of the ?25m Christie's Against Cancer appeal which is the most successful-ever in the north. "There are also extensive capital programmes underway which it will be gratifying to see completed." |
