THE NATIONAL Canine Defence League's (NCDL) travelling roadshow comes to Harpurhey on Monday and Tuesday December 4 and 5 to give on-the-spot microchipping for just ?9.50. The special roadshow will also give advice on neutering and responsible dog ownership at the Asda car park in Harpurhey District Centre as part of its Give a Dog a life campaign aimed at reducing the number of strays. Microchipping is a permanent way of identifying a dog and means if it gets lost and someone finds it, the dog can be returned home as quickly as possible. The process takes seconds and involves inserting a microchip the size of a grain of rice into the loose skin in the back of the dog's neck. The chip contains a unique identification number for each dog. David Wright, the NCDL campaign officer, said: "Microchipping is practically painless and it could save your dog's life. "We are here to answer any questions you may have so some and visit our roadshow." Proof of identification is needed before the NCDL can microchip any dog under 12 months old. |
