YOUNG people in Manchester have an alternative way to spend their weekend leisure time thanks to the Saturday Club being run in their local parks.

The Saturday Club, organised by Manchester Leisure, is based at parks throughout Manchester and have been set up following the success of citywide activity programmes during the school summer holidays.

For just 50p a session, young people aged 7 to 14 can learn sports skills and take part in different activities including basketball, hockey, rounders and cricket, all supervised by Manchester Leisure staff.

The clubs start every Saturday at 1pm and go on until 3pm at Heaton Park, Crumpsall Park, Clayton Park, Debdale Park, Platt Fields, Alexandra Park, Crowcroft Park and Wythenshawe Park.

For earlier risers the Off-street Soccer programme for teams aged between seven and 14 years takes place every Saturday from 10.30am until noon at Heaton Park, Crumpsall Park, Debdale Park, Platt Fields, Wythenshawe Park, Alexandra Park and Didsbury Park. Sessions cost 50p per child per session.
