SPORTS clubs are being invited to help and benefit from the Millennium Volunteers Sports Network.

The sports network is a new regional initiative financed and supported by the Department for Education and Employment and Sport England to support young people volunteering in sport.

It is targeted at young people aged 16 to 24 and aims to give them a unique opportunity to contribute to sport, meet new people, have fun and at the same time receive quality training and qualifications.

The project is part of the Commonwealth Games wider Opportunities Programme and the network is one of the partners of the Greater Manchester Sports Partnership.

Sports clubs or organisations are being invited to nominate young people who may like to become involved in the project.

Club that believe they may benefit from having a young volunteer working with its members are also being asked to contact Lynn Bellard on 01204 334 123 or 07940 564836 for more information.
