PEOPLE are being asked to comment on the standard of council services in north Manchester as part of a new way of co-ordinating the delivery of city council services to individual wards.

The new system, devised last April, aims to bring together various departments to meet the needs of each ward in a 'joined-up' way to ensure different departments do not leave gaps in services.

This year Manchester City Council will be concentrating on bringing together housing, operational services, youth services and social services.

Later this year the council will be putting together an action plan for the next 12 months on how services will be delivered based on views on current services.

Residents are also being asked to consider what are the four most important issues which, if tackled jointly, would make a major improvement to the area.

There will be opportunities to talk to councillors and officers as well as completing a survey form available through locations across north Manchester.

The survey seeks information on how well services are working covering the environment, street lighting, grass cutting and refuse collection.

There are questions about facilities for young people and questions aimed at young people to establish if existing provision is satisfying their needs. People are also being asked about schools, childcare facilities, and play schemes.

Issues about housing are covered including questions about the state of repair, the number of empty houses and the availability of leisure activities, parks and sports centres.

People are also being asked about care services for elderly people, families and disabled people and traffic problems including speeding and other road safety issues.

Completed questionnaires must be returned to places where they were picked up or sent to Tracey McDonald, Ward Support Officer, North Manchester Regeneration, MANCAT, Moston, M9 4WU.
