CHILDREN will have the chance to sample the rigours of one of the toughest sports introduced to the Olympics for the first time this year. Pupils at five north Manchester primary schools and young people at King David High School will be taking part in triathlon taster sessions at Abraham Moss Leisure Centre. The one-day event on Tuesday, October 17 will run from 9am to 3.30pm when 180 children are expected to sample the swimming, cycling and running challenge. Training will be organised by the official Manchester, Salford and Trafford triathlon development officer Mark Tweedie, 1999 North West Triathlon champion. Triathlon introductory coaching sessions are due to be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 25 and 26 when places can be booked through mark on 873 7538. On these dates there are also courses being offered at assistant club coach and club coach level. |
