![]() Feet on the ground - Mark, Tommy and Dave Regulars at the Millstone pub in Blackley cheered drinking pals on Sunday when they went over the top at the Zeneca Hexagon Tower in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. The local daredevils joined dozens from across the north west to take the 170ft plunge to help pay for the 13 Marie Curie nurses operating across north Manchester. Construction worker Tommy Gavin, of Brynorme Road, Crumpsall led a three-man Millstone squad and, although he had abseiled once before, he admitted it was no easy task. He said: "It's a big drop and I was scared but I'm glad we did it." The money will help fund the Marie Curie nurses who care for cancer sufferers in their own homes to allow them to spend their final days with their families rather than die in a hospice or hospital. |
