THE PERFORMANCE of the police in reducing crime in Crumpsall will be discussed at a meeting of the area's Community Action Group.

Supt Simon Garvey will speak at the meeting to be held at Lansdowne Road Methodist Church on Thursday, September 28 at 7.30pm.

The meeting will be the first time residents have had a chance to meet Supt Garvey since he took charge of policing for the Crumpsall area when Harry Campbell retired earlier this year.

He will discuss GMP's Crime Reduction Strategy and people will have the opportunity to make their views known on how the police have performed in protecting the community in the last year.

The meeting will also be addressed by Shelagh McNerney, the ward co-ordinator for Crumpsall, who will speak about council services in the area.

Stan Taylor, the action group's secretary, hoped to have a big turnout at the meeting when next year's Crumpsall Carnival will also be on the agenda.

He said: "Supt Garvey will be available to answer any questions on the issue of crime and policing. We feel sure people in the community will have very clear opinions on this issue and we hope everyone will try to attend to make their views known."

Anyone unable to attend the meeting may post their questions to northmanchester.net and these will be forwarded to the meeting.
