CHURCH goers had their prayers answered when the rain finally stopped on Sunday in time for the opening of the St Dunstan's Summer Fair.
Scores of visitors thronged to the St Dunstan's Primary School hall where they enjoyed the sounds of local brass group Brass Neck made up of past and present St Matthew's High School pupils. There were raffles, cream teas, games and a barbecue to keep the crowds fed, watered and entertained. ![]() Fr Michael with some of the helpers at the fair Funds raised from the event will be split between the parish church and a development programme in Ethiopia run by former parishioner Sister Christine Cassey. Just in case the prayed-for sunshine didn't come, Parish Priest Father Michael Jujacz made sure to brighten up the day with his eye-catching waistcoat and even sprayed his hair with glitter. Fr Michael, who came to Moston four years ago, was delighted by the turnout and congratulated his parishioners for the day's success. He said: "This has all been done by our parishioners and it's been a great day. Sister will be coming home in a couple of weeks and we'll be handing over half of the money made from the event. "The rest will go towards our parish debtbuster fund. We are aiming to raise £40,000 over two years. In the last five months we've raised £10,000." ![]() Musicians Stewart Ash, Peter Webster, Stephen Bowes and Peter Ash of Brass Neck |
