EVERYTHING?s coming up roses in a bid to win a top national environmental award for Blackley.

Heaton Park and Blackley Cemetery have been entered into this year?s Britain in Bloom competition along with Victoria Avenue at its junction with Rochdale Road.

Hanging baskets and planters will adorn the avenue and community groups will be working to provide further displays around local streets and estates.

As a key initiative as part of the city?s Bright and Clean Campaign, floral displays will once again go up in the streets in Crumpsall and Cheetham.

Other awards up for grabs include best pub, best garden, best young gardener, best communal garden and best independent display.

Anyone can get involved by ringing the Britain in Bloom team on 954 9000.
