OFFICIALS at the Home Office have been slammed for 'parachuting' vulnerable asylum seekers into Moston and leaving them to fend for themselves.

Teaching staff at a school in the area were stunned when children from a Czech family arrived for lessons despite being unable to speak a word of English and with no offers of language support.

In another incident a family of Kosovan refugees is reported to have been moved out of a house in Moston Lane because the area was 'too rough' after finding nobody to turn to for help.

councillor Bill Risby is demanding an explanation from the Home Office over the number of asylum seekers being left alone and isolated.

He said: "Neither the children or the parents in this case speak any English yet the school has been offered no support to help them.

"The Home Office is parachuting families in to areas without any support and expecting everything to be honky doori.

"It's not that local families wouldn't welcome them, but you can't just do that without support. It's not as if there isn't the will there. This is not prejudice against people seeking asylum.

"One person moved into Moston lane from Kosovo and had to leave because the area was too rough; well it will be if we don't have the support systems in place.

"When the Kosovan refugees came to Blackley they were given massive social services support, educational support and the community welcomed them. Without that kind of support there's little we can do."
