WITNESSES are being urged to come forward to help police investigating the hit-and-run death of 10-year-old Cheetham boy Wade McDonald.

The youngster, of Avondale Street, was riding his bike in Cardinal Street, Crumpsall with a friend just before 7pm a week ago on Saturday when he was in collision with a Honda Civic.

Witnesses said Wade was thrown into the air as the car careered into two other parked vehicles before coming to a halt. The driver and a passenger then ran off.

Wade died 24-hours later at Booth Hall Children's Hospital but his family has been unable to bury his body until the police investigation has been completed.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident. One was later released without charge and the other has been released on bail to report to Collyhurst police station in July.

Anyone who saw the accident who has not so far come forward should contact Grey Mare Lane Traffic Unit on 856 3574.
