Marjorie Weir, a willing backroom worker of St Dunstan?s Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society, Kenyon Lane, Moston, passed away Wednesday 18 May 2000 in North Manchester General Hospital. Marjorie, straight talking, hard working, never lost for a quick repartee, could always be relied upon throughout more than 30 years of unstinting loyalty, to readily and generously share her life with the cast and audiences of the numerous plays and musicals the Society produced. She ran the kitchen with precision and humour and that was her domain. Calling a spade a spade she voluntary became the Society?s main critic to those treading the boards and to those contributing to respective orchestras. Her reliability and conscientiousness will be sadly missed by all and although never becoming an actual member herself, she was always happy to be there in support of the Society and other groups within the Parish Her death comes as a sad loss to her two sons Thomas and Brendan and coincidentally during the week of the Society?s production of Summer Song. It is anticipated that her 9.30am Requiem Mass at St Dunstan?s RC Church on Thursday 25 May will be attended by many of her relations and friends. Marie Risby |
