YOUNGSTERS at a Crumpsall roller hockey club are to represent their country in America after being chosen for the Great Britain squad. Teenagers Trevor Gilmore, aged 18, and Sam Dalli, aged 15, of Salford, and Craig Theaker, aged 14, of Moston, have been selected to travel to Las Vegas next October for the Black Biscuit Tournament. The three have been selected after being spotted by scouts at the British In-line Skating Association?s Superleague championships where their team, the Crumpsall Coyotes, landed in second place. Kevin Parnell, the team?s coach, was proud of his players? achievements and hoped they would inspire future players. He said: ?They have worked very hard and I?m very proud of them. It?s great that our club will be represented on the Great Britain team. ?They?ll have to cover their own costs which will mainly fall on their parents but they will be applying for grants and, as a club, we?ll be doing all we can to raise funds.? The club meets at the Abraham Moss Leisure Centre every Sunday between 1pm and 4pm when boys and girls of all ages are welcome to join in. Contact Kevin or Cath on 740 4310. |
