ANGLERS at Boggart Hole Clough are mourning the sudden loss of fellow fisherman Ian Bully, aged 47, who died on holiday in Bangor, North Wales. Ian, who was chairman of the clough trust, helped set up the disabled anglers' club at the lake three years ago when they won a national competition. He has since helped the club grow to one of the biggest sections under the umbrella of the Oldham Owls disabled sports organisation. Anglers at the clough raised more than ?100 which will be used to pay for a memorial trophy for two competitions with the income being donated to the Oldham Owls at the request of his family. Dave Wilson, who runs the clough lake, was stunned by Ian's death and hoped friends and colleagues would attend his funeral service at Broadshaw Crematorium in Middleton on Friday at 2.30pm. Dave said: "Ian was behind the disabled fishing club. He will be very sadly missed. We raised some money to buy flowers but his wife wanted the money donated to the club. "We'll be holding a meeting with club members this week to agree how the money should be spent." |
