![]() Graham Stringer MP Patients have received letters telling them Dr Akhter and Dr Alam of 346 Moston Lane have been forced to relocate after their premises were declared inadequate. The doctors, who run the surgery as an extension of their Chadderton health centre, have been looking unsuccessfully for an alternative Moston site since their Moston Lane building failed an inspection. They now plan to move all their patients to their main site at Chadderton town centre but the proposal is being blocked by local councillors concerned the move will leave patients stranded. Cllr Bill Risby has written to junior minister and Blackley MP Graham Stringer urging him to step in to save the surgery. Cllr Risby said: "The Chadderton surgery is four miles away from the Moston one, which is a totally unacceptable distance for most of their elderly patients of which there are many. "The practice did make enquiries about establishing another surgery locally without success. Most of the local doctors' lists are full so patients will be lucky if they can find a local GP to accept them. "This problem could be of such proportions that I think it's a matter that the MP could influence." |
