SHOPS are to be built on vacant land once occupied by a block of flats notorious as a haunt for prostitutes and drug dealers on Cheetham Hill Road. The land has been vacant since the Temple House flats and doctors' surgery were demolished and will now be developed to replace shops due to be demolished on nearby Queen's Road. The development is part of a wider scheme to include demolishing existing warehouses and replacing them with a new retail park on the former Barney's Tip which was approved in January '99. There are also plans to redevelop land in Redbank, off Cheetham Hill Road, occupied by Lancashire Dairies and the Mile House pub which will be demolished. |
