REAL ale and speciality beer houses are joining forces for their first ever Jug Jaunt starting at Cheetham's Queen's Arms between Thursday, May 18 to Sunday, May 21.

The event will be the first time a group of several hostelries in Manchester's Northern Quarter has joined together to promote their products.

The products include more than 100 British cask beers and there are expected to be as many bottled beers from a variety of different countries around the world.

The circuit is acessible via the Metrolonk tram system and is close to Victoria railway station.

On Saturday, May 20 a minibus will be laid on to drive people around the different watering holes throughout the day. Music and food may also feature at some of the venues.

Sue, who runs the popular Queen's Arms at Redbank, hoped the Jug Jaunt would be the first of many co-operative events in the real ale calendar.

She said: "This shows the co-operation between independent businesses who want to compliment each other rather than be rivals."

Pubs taking part are:

The Queen's Arms, Honey Street, Redbank

The Castle, Oldham Street

Bar Fringe, Swan Street

The Beer House, Angel Street

Marble Arch, Rochdale Road

Centre bar, Tib Street

The Pot of Beer, New Mount Street

Hogshead, High Street
