Young people have had their say on the site's content and pupils from St Chad's and Temple primary schools took part in a competition to design the front page. The website is based around two characters Lucy Lung and Ernie Earth and provides health tips and safety advice on walking and cycling using worksheets and quizzes. There is also information about safety improvements carried out around the city and survey data showing current travel modes chosen by pupils. The project is part of a pilot project involving eight primary and secondary schools in conducting surveys and producing reports on dangers presented by traffic. It aims to reduce the amount of traffic around schools to make roads safer and cut air polution. Manchester's Lord Mayor Tony Burns presented certificates to Jennifer Nung and Amy Oliver of St Chad's school and Samera Tariq and Salma Mohsin from Temple primary commending their entries in the design competition. |
